Frequently Asked Questions

How can I prepare for my tuning appointment?

Clear any clutter or decorations off the top of the piano and make sure the room with the piano will be as quiet as it can be for the duration of the appointment.

How often should I have my piano tuned?

In general, every 6 months. It can vary depending on the amount of use your piano gets and the humidity changes in the area, which we can discuss during your first few appointments to come up with a schedule that's good for you and your instrument.

What's with the price range?

The amount of work that goes in to each service appointment can vary depending on which services the piano needs, how long it's been since it was last tuned, its age, and many other factors. After I discuss some of these things with you before your appointment, I'll be able to give you a more accurate quote.

What forms of payment do you take?

Cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle.

What area do you service?

Mainly western North Carolina, but I'm willing to travel further with at least one month's notice. After 45 minutes of driving (from Asheville), I charge $10 for every additional 15 minutes.

How were you trained?

I studied Piano Technology at North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA, where I learned tuning, regulation, and rebuilding over the course of two years and received a diploma. I was trained to tune aurally using equal temperament.
